Dead and Squashed people

Apparently the gardeners of Wellington's Botanic Gardens are getting fed up with sifting through the ashes and bones of cremated people which get regularly dumped on the Lady Norwood rose beds. As well as being unpleasant, it is also harming the roses. A cremated person creates about 2-3kg of ash - that really made me think! One person’s ashes every so often would probably make little difference, but if everyone decides to do it there would be mounds of ash. As it is some of that ash blows around in the Wellington wind and gets ingested by visitors and staff - ugh! Planting a tree on the ashes, as suggested on the Wellington City Council website, seems a much nicer option to me.

Did you hear about the man whose leg was broken by a runaway taxi when he was collecting a McDonalds at 2am. Surely he must have heard junk food is bad for you – and now it seems worse than we thought, as a taxi went through the window and pinned his leg. It seems he blames the BP owner next to McDonalds for not placing bollards to stop runaway taxis going through the window. Whilst I don’t wish to minimise the plight and suffering of the poor guy – this was an accident. Sure, pursue the taxi driver for damages, but the owner of the premises which were hit? I don’t get it.

Finally, the poor young lady in England who died with a toilet brush embedded in her bottom which doctors failed to notice – that really is bizarre. I really wonder about what the epitaph on her gravestone might be…
